Abu Garcia Spool Tensioning Washer, Brass.  This washer goes in the spool tension (Casting Control) cap.  By tightening the casting control cap, this washer is pressed against the end of the spool shaft causing a slight resistance to the shaft to spin freely and by doing this reduces the spool over-run that casued the “birds nest” effect.
